Ostensione, indice e ancoraggi iconici. Spunti per una lettura intersemiotica della realtà
Abstract
The focus of this work aims to frame the notions of “ostensione” and “indice” in the broader category of icons. To be able to address this challenging issue, it is appropriate to begin by presenting, in a nutshell, the concept of reality, sketching it from a semiotic point of view. We follow a path that will include the following steps: a) a preliminary reading of philosophical semiotic relationships between the individual/reality; b) the presentation of the notions of index and ostension; c) an explanation of the characteristics of icons. Particular attention will be reserved to the attempt to locate the foundational components of icons in both “indice” and “ostensione”. The conclusions will focus on the definition of intersemiotic translation (interpretation of linguistic signs using non-linguistic signs) proposed by Roman Jakobson in 1959, which will be used to understand the relationship between reality and human knowledge as an non-ontological problem but as a transmutation process between different semiotics fields.
