Abstract

This article provides a synthesis of the most recent researches on second language acquisition, through a neurobiological and cognitive perspective. In the last few years the neuroimaging technologies have given to the researchers the possibility to obtain a more precise description of human brain while producing different cognitive abilities. The results given by these technologies are a further possibility for the researches to have information that can be integrated to those stated by the studies with a linguistic or psychological setting, with the aim to build up a more complete knowledge of the neuropsychological mechanisms that underlie the way a non native language is learned. The final purpose could be to develop effective models and theories of foreign language education, which integrated knowledge that come from different disciplinary sectors that is the foundation of a recent international area of research named “Educational Neuroscience”(PATTERN & CAMPBEL, 2011; SHRANG, 2011)
